Easter Table Setting

I love to set the table for holidays, so I am really excited to share my Easter table setting with y’all!

Where to begin for your Easter Table Setting:

To begin with, I like to pull out my Noritake China and whatever odds and ends dishes I have to create an eclectic look. It doesn’t have to be over the top, stuffy or pretentious. We are not super fancy people, but it is fun for me to play dress up every once in a while. I live with 3 men (1 man, 2 junior men) so it’s like the only way I get to play dress up!

Table Settings do not have to be scary!

So just to prove that making a beautiful table setting does not have to be scary, I want to share the simple and frugal items that I pulled together for this Easter table setting.

I bought Easter eggs from the dollar store and I used them all over the table. Then I hung some up with string on my “Easter tree.” I simply went out to the woods and found some branches and stuck them in a glass jug. Then I set the jug in a blue and white ceramic pot. You can use natural sticks and branches, or you could paint them white or gold. Really you could choose any color you love! This is a super cheap and beautiful little project to decorate for Easter!

I got my lovely table cloth from the discount aisle at TJ Maxx. My “fancy” Noritake dishes are a garage sale find given to me by my mother. The blue plates are from Target and the green goblets are from…drum roll, please…Arby’s. Y’all, I have absolutely no logical explanation why a fast food restaurant gave out goblets back in the day. But for some odd ball promotional deal, they did. My mom had a small collection of them and she was kind enough to give them to me as well.

So, you see? No pomp and circumstance here!

I think I have told y’all before that I have a real problem with pack ratting glass containers. But this is where those little pack ratty treasures shine! I had my boys go outside and pick whatever wild flowers they could find and placed them in little jars, bottles and vases. (See, it’s not pack ratting if you actually use the stuff…) I prefer to use little vessels for flowers down the middle of the table. This way you don’t have to creep around a big bouquet just to have a conversation with the person across from you. Save the big dramatic stuff for a side table or buffet!

Food is definitely part of the over all scheme!

I also like to use food items to fill the canvas of the table because we eat with our eyes before we ever take a bite. The year I took these pictures (below) my sister Starla had come to visit. To my utter delight, she actually made our Easter dinner. She is an incredible gourmet cook. I was so excited when she volunteered to cook a truly southern dish for our resurrection celebration: Shrimp and Grits. Oh. my. word, y’all…she used a recipe from My New Orleans: The Cookbook by John Besh. Believe me, it was out of this world delish! I love that it was something a little different, and we had so much fun preparing it together.

Of course, we had kombucha with our meal, and I will let Starla made a wonderful d. Everything turned out so lovely and tasty and it will always be a sweet memory. It feels very grown up to host a holiday. It is such a blessing to celebrate with the people we love and to add just a little extra to make it special…without breaking the bank!

Luke 24:1-10

“On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’” Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.” 


Did you notice with whom Jesus entrusted the message of the greatest news ever heard by human ears?

He entrusted the Good News of his Resurrection to the devoted women in his life. Jesus does so much to uphold the beauty and dignity of the feminine heart.

We are the hearth keepers of celebration.

What a glorious calling!
