Elderberry Cough Syrup and Immune Booster Recipe

It is that time of the year, when I personally end up with a chest cold every autumn. Here is a simple way to help your cough, colds, chest, and especially your immune system.

You will need the following list of ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried elderberries*
  • 1 large knob of fresh ginger, peeled
  • 8 whole cloves*
  • 1 cinnamon stick*
  • 2 star anise*
  • pinch of Himalayan pink salt
  • 4 cups pure water
  • 3/4 cup raw honey

Elderberry Cough Syrup and Immune Booster Recipe / Life Full and Frugal

Get out a heavy bottomed pan and add all the ingredients, except for the honey. Bring to a gentle simmer and reduce the liquid at least by half. Let cool to the touch, pour through fine mesh strainer, and then add the raw honey. Mix thoroughly and put into a clean bottle. Refrigerate after using.
