Rib & Chicken Rub

Memorial Day is this weekend. What better way to kick off the summer season than with a classic BBQ using this amazing recipe for rib & chicken rub? Many of us will be gathering with friends and family for food, fun and fellowship. Sharing a meal together is one of the many ways we honor the memory of service men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our country.

So, here is a really simple recipe for a dry rub that is perfect both for chicken and ribs. You can read all about how I used it on ribs for our Fourth of July Menu. It’s great to make your own spice blends because you will know what’s in them–and more importantly–what’s NOT. Most pre-packaged spice blends are FULL of MSG and that stuff is so bad for you! Some people have really bad reactions to it, including my son. We try to avoid it if at all possible.

I really love dry rubs and I use them often, because they are concentrated flavor!

So in this recipe for rib & chicken rub, I bought a package of 7 chicken drumsticks for $4.15 at Mac’s Fresh Market across from Drew Elementary School. First, they got a quick coating of this seasoning blend, then I let them marinate for around a half hour. My husband grilled them and they turned out so delicious!

Not only was this an extremely cost effective meal, it was also FULL of amazing FLAVOR! So yummy!

You just can’t beat that!

I hope y’all give this recipe a try and that you enjoy it!

Let us know how it goes in the comments!

God bless! ~Shanna
